I have been giving prenatal massages in Greenville, SC since 2009. Having been on the receiving end during two pregnancies, I can tell you it’s one of my favorite massage modalities. Being on the practitioner’s end, there is nothing better than helping a expectant mom feel her best. I absolutely love it when the baby responds with joyful kicks as mom is being massaged.

Prenatal massage is truly the gift that keeps on giving. Not only does the mother leave feeling relaxed, but the baby gets extra nourishment. Prenatal massages increase nutrients to the placenta. I have seen clients whose babies weren’t growing very well. After a few massages, they were right where they needed to be weight wise. Coincidence? I’ll let you you decide! I’m not making any claims that the massages did that, but it does make you wonder!

Prenatal massages have been so beneficial to my clients from aching backs to shooting pains in their legs. Everyone leaves my table feeling relaxed. I also see a lot of moms at the very end of pregnancy in their due month when their hips are starting to ache as their bodies prepare for birth. Prenatal massage helps so much more than just relax the aching body, it also helps calm nervous anxiety and aids in depression. I hope every mom-to-be is able to experience some of the benefits of prenatal massage.

Massage Magazine highlighted some of the benefits of prenatal massage:

“Assists in remedying many common discomforts such as: muscular discomforts, lower-back pain, upper-back pain, headaches, leg cramps, sciatica, stiffness, tension and knots, carpal tunnel syndrome, headaches, heartburn and acid reflux, fatigue, varicose veins, nasal congestion, shortness of breath, edema of the lower extremities, neck pain, interscapular pain, sacroiliac and hip joint pain and constipation”

“Supports the return of blood to the heart and increases blood flow to the uterus and placenta. With the enormous demands placed on the circulatory system during pregnancy, blood volume may increase up to 60 percent compared to pre-pregnancy levels. As pregnancy progresses and the uterus enlarges and presses deep into the pelvic bowl, venous return to the heart is hampered”

As you can see, there any many benefits to receiving massages while pregnant. Not only for the mom, but for the baby as well.

I hope all is well in your world!
