It’s true, the older you get, the wiser you are. It’s just too bad that you have to learn lessons, sometimes hard, in order to become a little wiser. The hardest lesson I’ve learned this year is not to put other people’s feelings ahead of my needs. So many times we find ourselves ignoring our own needs in order to make other people happy. Then we find out that in the end, those people never really cared about us and we end up missing out on a great opportunity.

I think being pregnant has opened my eyes in many different ways. I’m more confident now than ever before. I’m also more driven, career wise than I have been in the past. Being pregnant has opened so many doors for me personally and professionally. Having a child changes your life in so many ways. For me it’s just helped me focus on what’s really important. I’ve become less of a people pleaser and stand up for the things that are important to me. I’ve also found that I don’t have to explain myself and my decisions to anyone. I’m a smart, competent being and I trust my instincts.

If I could give a word of advice to those of you out there, it’s to stay true to yourself. You’ll encounter so many people who will try to make you feel bad about yourself and the decisions you make. It’s because of these people that I urge you to surround yourself with people who do support you. When you’re around people who do not support you, you’ll find yourself questioning your decisions constantly. Trust your instincts, even if you make a mistake, learn from it and move on. Nobody’s perfect! People who support you will understand if you make a mistake, they’ll pick you up and encourage you to do better.

I hope all is well in your world! You’re the one who’s in control of it!
