I’ve always enjoyed helping people. That might be why I have a bachelors degree in Human Services. It’s just part of my nature to serve. I considered becoming a doula for many years, but the timing just wasn’t right. It wasn’t until after my pregnancies and birthing my two children, when I realized it was time to pursue a career as a doula.

As your doula, I provide emotional, physical and educational support. There is much confusion surrounding birth in our culture. From prenatal testing to pain management during labor to breastfeeding a newborn, as your doula I will help you navigate through all of the uncertainties. I will help you find your own philosophy around birth and parenthood and encourage you with information and resources that support how you feel. Thousands of women across the country are reaping the benefits that a doula brings.

Once you hire me, I’m on call for you 24/7 and will provide evidence based research about any birth-related topics you would like information about. I will give you continuous support during labor. As a massage therapist, I am trained to find pressure points to help alleviate some of the pressure during contractions, which help you feel more comfortable. I also offer postpartum support to help you adjust to life with a baby.

Contact me for a free consultation to chat about your expectations for your birth and my role as the doula. I look forward to meeting you!

Doulas Do…

  • View birth as a normal, physiological process that seldom requires intervention.

  • Educate, encourage and support the pregnant woman and her partner.

  • Meet with a pregnant woman and her partner several times before the birth to establish a relationship and assist them in creating an individualized birth plan.

  • Stay with women throughout their labor offering non-medical methods of pain relief such as massage, aromatherapy, touch, verbal encouragement, and position changes.

  • Facilitate communication between the laboring woman, her partner, and her care providers.

  • Allow the woman’s partner to participate at his/her comfort level.

Doulas Do Not…

  • Perform any clinical tasks such as blood pressure checks, fetal heart checks, or vaginal exams.

  • Make decisions for the mother. A doula helps mothers get necessary information to make informed decisions.

  • Replace any other support people the mother may have. A doula works with the partner to support the laboring woman.
